Drones spotted over German military base after suspected drone attack

defense & military

Two drones were spotted flying over a military base in western Germany late Thursday. The sighting occurred two days after a separate incident involving an armed unmanned aircraft in the eastern part of the country.

An explosive-laden drone was discovered on the tarmac at Leipzig/Halle airport, a major cargo hub. The device, which was found near a Ukrainian Antonov Airlines cargo plane, was successfully defused.

Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said the incident posed a new quality of danger, stating that Germany faces daily hybrid warfare attacks from abroad. Authorities noted that drone sightings over civilian and cargo airports have been reported more frequently.
