Paris Saint-Germain have signed World Cup-winning forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona on a contract running until 2031. While financial details were not officially disclosed, reports indicate the 26-year-old striker cost the Ligue 1 champions 50 million euros ($58 million). The Spanish champion will wear the No. 9 jersey for the European champions.
Torres is recognized for scoring the winning goal during extra time of the World Cup final for Spain against Argentina. Prior to his time at Barcelona, where he scored 65 goals in 207 games including a career-high 21 last season, he played for Manchester City and Valencia.
The transfer reunites Torres with coach Luis Enrique, who gave him his international debut in 2020. Enrique has led PSG to three French league titles and back-to-back Champions League titles. Torres joins a star-studded attack featuring Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and new signing Maghnes Akliouche.
