crime & law

A Texas man has been charged with throwing a Molotov cocktail at the San Francisco home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and attempting to set fire to the AI firm’s headquarters. Daniel Moreno-Gama, 20, was captured on surveillance video allegedly throwing the incendiary device.

Federal prosecutors have filed criminal charges against Moreno-Gama, who was arrested Friday. Authorities recovered a document from the suspect detailing his intentions and expressing “anti-AI” views. The document reportedly advocated for violence against AI executives.

No injuries were reported at either Altman’s residence or the company offices. Moreno-Gama faces federal felony charges and could potentially face life imprisonment if convicted.

The FBI stated Moreno-Gama was carrying a self-authored document with anti-AI sentiments at the time of his arrest.
