More than 120 passengers and crew members have been evacuated from the MV Hondius, a Dutch cruise ship. Among those evacuated is one man who has been infected with hantavirus.

The World Health Organization has stated that it sees no evidence that the hantavirus cases aboard the ship would develop into a widespread outbreak. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez described the evacuation operation as a success, noting that the health agency has ruled out a major outbreak.

Repatriated passengers are facing various isolation protocols depending on their location. In France, some passengers are being placed in biocontainment units, while those in the Netherlands have been asked to self-isolate for six weeks.
