A 17-year-old girl was killed and three other people were wounded on Friday afternoon after an 18-year-old man armed with a sword attacked students at the Brinell School in Fagersta, central Sweden. The attack took place while classes were in session in the town, located northwest of Stockholm.
Of the three people injured in the attack, two are in serious condition. Other wounded students include two boys, aged 12 and 17, who sustained minor injuries. Local media and the school's principal reported that the attacker, who was armed with a sword or machete, was a student or former student at the institution.
Police shot and detained the suspect at the scene. While the individual has been taken into custody, the Swedish prime minister stated that the motive behind the attack is not currently known.
