Meta Unveils New AI Model, Muse Spark, Testing Company Ambitions

technology artificial intelligence

Meta Platforms Inc. unveiled Muse Spark, its first artificial intelligence model following a significant overhaul of its AI organization and a $14.3 billion investment related to Scale AI. The new model is the first released under Superintelligence Labs, led by Alexandr Wang.

Muse Spark is natively multimodal and introduces a new reasoning mode. Data from Meta indicates the model is competitive with rivals, exceeding the performance of its previous AI models.

However, benchmarks show Muse Spark currently lags behind competitors in coding ability. The model will not be widely available outside of Meta’s own products. This release follows a previous model’s disappointing performance which prompted the extensive AI reboot.
