Harvey Weinstein is facing a new trial in New York City on a rape charge, years after becoming a central figure in the #MeToo movement and subsequent legal battles.
The case centers around accusations made by Jessica Mann, a hairstylist and actor who appeared in the 2015 film “This Isn’t Funny.” Jurors will determine whether Weinstein committed third-degree rape against Mann in a Manhattan hotel room in 2013.
A previous trial ended in a mistrial last June when jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict following disagreements during deliberation. Weinstein has consistently denied the accusations, stating in court that he “acted wrongly, but never assaulted anyone.”
