The World Health Organization has confirmed a new hantavirus case linked to the cruise ship MV Hondius, bringing the total number of suspected and confirmed infections to 12. This latest case involves a crew member who left the vessel in Tenerife and was repatriated to the Netherlands.
The MV Hondius arrived in the Netherlands last week for disinfection. Of the 12 total cases reported, there have been three deaths.
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has urged all countries to monitor passengers who were on the cruise ship.
