US-born social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami, Florida, on Saturday. The brothers, including self-professed misogynist Andrew Tate, appeared in federal court for the first time on Monday and are currently being held in federal detention.
The brothers face a total of 59 charges from the Crown Prosecution Service, including rape, assault, and human trafficking. Additionally, they face allegations in Romania involving money laundering, trafficking minors, and sexual intercourse with a minor. The Tates deny the charges they face across multiple countries.
A US district judge will now consider whether the brothers meet the conditions for extradition to the United Kingdom. Their lawyer has vowed to challenge the process, asserting that the brothers are victims of a political witch hunt.
