Former national police chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo and two other senior police generals have been detained for allegedly conducting an illegal wiretapping operation. The suspects are accused of tapping the phones of President Prabowo Subianto, as well as journalists, politicians, and business people, from 2025 to this year.

Listyo Sigit Prabowo served as the national police chief during the period of the alleged wiretapping. He was removed from that position on October 1 and subsequently appointed as the Chief of Presidential Staff in a cabinet reshuffle. The government has stated that he may have committed treason following his arrest.

Amid the investigation, the Indonesian military is deploying more than 20,000 troops and personnel to Jakarta. Although troops are being stationed amid allegations implicating the president's chief of staff, authorities have not confirmed that the deployment is directly connected to the arrests of the former police chief and the other senior officers.
