France to accelerate interceptor missile deliveries to Ukraine

armed conflict defense & military

Kyiv and Moscow continued an exchange of fire this Saturday. Following a series of deadly Russian attacks, Ukraine's air defenses are running short.

French President Emmanuel Macron has promised to accelerate the delivery of new French equipment to Ukraine. In a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on August 22, the leaders discussed Kyiv's shortage of air defenses.

Macron stated in a post on X that it is crucial to provide Ukraine with all the necessary means to defend its airspace and thwart this aggression. Paris will deliver new interceptor missiles, including a new Italo-French missile defense system capable of downing ballistic missiles.

These announcements precede a Monday meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which seeks to ramp up pressure on Moscow.
