Manchester City have completed the signing of Argentina international midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea in a deal worth £125 million ($169 million). The fee equals the British transfer record, bringing an end to the summer's longest-running transfer saga.
Fernandez has signed a five-year deal with the club, reuniting him with manager Enzo Maresca. On a day of twists and turns, City further strengthened their squad by signing Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for up to £65 million to bolster their attack.
Chelsea were left raging after their attempts to find a replacement for Fernandez were dashed. The club's move for Monaco's Lamine Camara fell through when Monaco reneged on an agreement to sell the player as the transfer window drew to a close.
