Civilian casualties in Ukraine reached their highest monthly level since May 2022 in July, with casualties rising by nearly a third month-on-month. The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission reported that at least 437 civilians were killed and 2,610 were injured during the month.
Moscow has increased its long-range attacks, using missiles and drones to target cities and towns far from the battlefield. These strikes have recently extended to passenger trains, including one drone attack that killed two workers.
Recent strikes in Kramatorsk killed at least one person and wounded 15, while a separate attack in Zaporizhzhia injured two. Additionally, Russian jet-powered drones struck a home in northern Ukraine, killing a 29-year-old woman and her 9-year-old son.
