Moderna Inc. has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for mFlusiva, marking the first time a flu shot utilizing mRNA technology has been approved in the United States.
The seasonal vaccine received traditional approval for adults aged 50 to 64.
The victory comes after the drugmaker originally faced opposition from the regulatory agency. The FDA had initially refused to review the application but reversed its course following a public outcry.
