The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration announced on Monday that seats on hundreds of Boeing 737 MAX jets registered in the U.S. may require inspections. The regulator has called for the inspection of 453 aircraft due to safety concerns.
According to the agency, seats on some of the aircraft maker's models were not correctly installed in their seat tracks. Operators of the popular 737 model have been advised to check several hundred aircraft to ensure the seats were properly installed.
The FAA warned that if these issues are not corrected, passengers and crew members could be injured during an emergency landing. Additionally, incorrectly installed seats could block the aisle and slow down an evacuation.
