A shooting at the Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital campus in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood on Saturday morning left one police officer dead and another critically injured. The incident occurred around 11 a.m., resulting in two officers being shot inside the facility.
Officials confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody. Although the suspect has not been publicly identified, one of the wounded officers remains in critical condition.
The hospital campus was placed on lockdown following the event. Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital stated that patients and staff were safe and that there was no longer an active threat by midafternoon.
