A federal judge rejected Ghislaine Maxwell's bid to throw out her 2021 sex-trafficking conviction and 20-year prison sentence for helping the late financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse teenage girls.
In a habeas petition, Maxwell claimed that her conviction was a complete miscarriage of justice. She maintained that false testimony was presented during her trial and that information which would have resulted in her exoneration was withheld.
The judge dismissed these assertions, stating they were based on speculation, distortions, and or outright falsehoods. The ruling described the petition as demonstrably meritless and noted that all or almost all of the claims were frivolous.
The judge further remarked that Maxwell's latest attempt to escape her sentence only serves to further incriminate her.
