Musk blames US government for Ukraine Starlink restrictions; Trump denies

defense & military

Ukrainian officials have complained that SpaceX limited internet connectivity without advance notice, creating restrictions on Starlink terminals that disrupted military operations. These limitations on the Starshield systems have restricted Ukraine's ability to use key defensive weapons, leading the country's former defence minister to call for the removal of speed limits to strengthen national defence.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has sought to shift responsibility away from his company, stating that any disruptions to Ukraine's use of the systems are the fault of the US government. Musk wrote that any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately the President of the United States, rather than SpaceX.

Musk further suggested that the US Defense Department and Donald Trump were behind the moves that hamstrung the Ukrainian military. In response to these restrictions and a diesel deal, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated that he felt betrayed by the United States.
