Pakistan Strikes Afghanistan Amid Drone Attacks, Conflict
Cross-border fighting between Pakistan and Afghanistan continues to escalate, with both nations trading accusations and carrying out strikes on each other’s territory. Pakistan’s military reported intercepting drones launched from Afghanistan, following its own strikes targeting militant hideouts in Kandahar province and Kabul. Islamabad stated the attacks were in response to Taliban drone strikes that injured civilians and targeted military sites, calling it a breach of a “red line.” The Afghan government, however, reports zero casualties and accuses a neighbouring country of attempting to “fuel the fire of war.” The conflict, described by Pakistan as an “open war,” is the deadliest yet between the two countries and raises concerns about regional stability amid wider tensions in the Middle East. Fighting erupted late last month and shows no signs of abating.
