A group of 25 US states has filed a lawsuit challenging new global tariffs implemented by President Donald Trump last month. These legal actions follow similar complaints from groups of small businesses who claim the levies are illegal.
The United States imposed double-digit tariffs on the European Union and 59 other countries. The administration charged these nations with failing to do enough to crack down on imports produced by forced labor.
The suing states argue that the latest tariffs exceed the president's legal authority to tax imports. Additionally, they contend that the measures unlawfully replace duties that had already been struck down by the courts.
