Gordie Howe Bridge to open in late July after US-Canada deal

The United States and Canada have agreed to open the Gordie Howe International Bridge, which connects Detroit with Windsor, Ontario. According to the office of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the bridge is expected to open on July 27.

The 1.5-mile-long bridge spans the Detroit River, linking the Motor City with Windsor. The opening comes 14 years after construction on the project first started.

The bridge's debut was delayed last month due to a dispute and unresolved issues between Washington and Ottawa. A ribbon-cutting ceremony originally scheduled for early June was postponed following earlier threats from Trump to block the bridge's opening.
