Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump held talks for approximately two hours in Beijing. Despite the pomp of the welcome, Xi cautioned that tensions over the island of Taiwan could jeopardize ties between the world's two biggest economies.
Xi warned of potential clashes and conflicts, stating that relations could enter an extremely dangerous place if the United States ignored China's demands regarding Taiwan, which Beijing claims as its territory.
While highlighting the issue of self-ruled democratic Taiwan, the Chinese leader suggested that the two nations should be partners and not rivals.
