Apple Inc. has increased the starting price of its Mac mini desktop from $599 to $799. This price adjustment is a response to inventory shortages driven by a tight supply of processors and significant demand for AI.
CEO Tim Cook told analysts that AI adoption has occurred faster than expected. He noted that both chip shortages and demand from AI enthusiasts are playing a part in the current supply issues.
Cook stated that desktop computers are likely to face a supply-demand imbalance for several months. Consequently, Apple expects to remain supply-constrained on the Mac mini, Studio, and Neo in the next quarter.
