Two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, opened fire at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday, killing three men. The attackers were later found dead several blocks away from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds, officials said.

Among the victims was 51-year-old security guard Amin Abdullah, who is being hailed as a hero for his bravery during the attack. Police stated that Abdullah played a pivotal role in stopping the shooting from becoming more deadly, noting that his actions undoubtedly saved lives.

During the incident, Abdullah acted quickly to protect more than a dozen children and staff at a school located inside the center. In recognition of his sacrifice, more than $1.4 million has been raised for his family.
