American Airlines Group Inc. announced on Tuesday that it will restore seatback screens and increase premium seating on its narrowbody jets starting in 2028. The carrier plans to provide screens at every seat in its narrow-body fleet to compete with rivals Delta Air Lines Inc. and United Airlines Holdings Inc. for higher-paying customers.
As part of these changes, the airline will add more first-class rows, extra-legroom seating, and additional premium seats. These updates are intended to improve the travel experience for passengers and boost revenue for the company.
The move comes after American began moving away from seatback screens nearly a decade ago. The airline is now attempting to add more passenger perks after falling behind United and Delta, both of which have featured screens for years.
