Manchester United have appointed former midfielder Michael Carrick as their permanent head coach. The 44-year-old has been rewarded with the role following a successful interim spell, replacing Ruben Amorim on a permanent basis. The club confirmed the appointment on Friday, signing Carrick to a two-year contract that runs until 2028.
The decision follows a turnaround in the club's fortunes in less than half a season under Carrick's guidance. He led the Red Devils to a third-place finish in the Premier League and secured qualification for the Champions League with three games remaining in the season.
In a statement, Carrick expressed immense pride in leading the special football club, noting that he has felt the magic of Manchester United since arriving 20 years ago. Looking forward, the new manager stated that he will target the biggest honours.
