Waymo is recalling 3,791 robotaxis in the United States after federal regulators identified a software flaw. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Tuesday that the issue could send the autonomous vehicles into flooded roads at higher speeds.

The voluntary recall covers vehicles running both the fifth- and sixth-generation Waymo Driver, the automated driving system of the Alphabet unit. The software flaw could likely cause the vehicles to drive onto flooded roadways.

Waymo has issued the software recall to make its robotaxis more cautious around flooded areas. A final remedy for the issue is currently in the works.
