Trump Tariffs Face Legal Challenges in US Trade Court

A group of states and small businesses are challenging President Trump’s recent global tariffs in front of a U.S. trade court. The 10% import tax was imposed after the Supreme Court invalidated a previous set of tariffs from the President.

The challenge argues the tariffs were issued improperly, citing a law considered outdated since the U.S. moved away from the gold standard. Plaintiffs claim the tariffs circumvent a Supreme Court ruling.

Twenty-four states, largely led by Democrats, joined the small businesses in urging the trade judges to vacate the tariffs. The case aims to overturn the temporary tariffs implemented following the Supreme Court’s decision.
