Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced Thursday that he is cutting all contact with European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas. Sa'ar cited blatant unfairness and attributed the move to a media report alleging that Kallas compared Israel to apartheid-era South Africa.
The decision to sever contact underscores the Jewish state's growing isolation from many of its closest allies.
Kallas stated that she values dialogue and engagement with Israel, although she made no mention of the reported apartheid comment. Separately, the UN rights office has previously found that Israel is violating international laws that prohibit apartheid.
