Canada secured a historic 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina in their World Cup Group B opener on Friday in Toronto. The result marks the co-hosts' first-ever point in the tournament across three appearances at the finals and their first point ever earned on home soil.
The match saw Bosnia and Herzegovina take the lead in the first half with a goal from Jovo Lukic. Throughout long spells of the game, Canada struggled to find the net, creating numerous chances but lacking precision in their finishing.
Striker Cyle Larin changed the momentum after coming off the bench. Larin had an almost instant impact, scoring the equalizing goal in the 78th minute to rescue the draw for the Canadians.
Following the match, coach Jesse Marsch expressed that he was pleased with how his team responded to rescue the point in their opening fixture.
