Ohio State University has agreed to pay approximately $100 million to settle hundreds of legal claims from former student athletes who said they were sexually abused decades ago by a campus doctor.
The settlement involves 280 former students who filed five lawsuits against the school for failing to protect them from a man accused of being a sexual predator. All but one of these former students have signed on to the agreement.
The university has fought these lawsuits in federal court since 2018. The legal claims were brought by former student athletes regarding the university's failure to stop abuse by Dr. Richard Strauss.
