The jury in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial told a judge in Massachusetts on Tuesday morning that they were unable to reach a unanimous decision. This announcement came at the start of the fourth day of deliberations and marked the first time the jury gave any indication they were at an impasse.
The judge has told the deadlocked jury to keep trying for a verdict. A trial consultant stated that the jury will need plenty of time to deliberate because the case is incredibly complicated.
The jury could find Clancy guilty of murder or the lesser crime of manslaughter. Alternatively, they could acquit her if they find that her deteriorating mental health or psychiatric problems left her not in control of herself. Before the jury began deliberations for the third day at Plymouth Superior Court, defense attorney Kevin Reddington told reporters he was nervous.
