ICE Agent Charged in Minnesota for Pointing Gun at Motorists

crime & law

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault in Minnesota’s Hennepin County. The charges stem from an incident on February 5th, where the agent allegedly pointed his duty weapon at two people in a car while driving on a Minneapolis highway.

Gregory Morgan Jr., of Temple Hills, Maryland, is the first federal immigration officer to face criminal charges related to the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, known as Operation Metro Surge. Prosecutors believe this is the first such case brought against a federal agent involved in the operation.

The case centers around allegations that the agent pointed a gun “at the heads of community members” during the highway incident. State prosecutors are also continuing to investigate the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, which involved federal agents in Minneapolis.
