A federal judge blocked the Trump administration on Friday from moving forward with plans to end temporary legal protections for more than 2,800 Yemeni nationals. These protections have allowed the individuals to live and work in the United States.

The administration has sought to cancel temporary protections for 13 countries as part of an immigration crackdown. On Thursday, a federal judge ruled that policies making it harder for people from countries on the travel ban list to obtain work permits and green cards are discriminatory and unlawful.

The judge also issued a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit brought by around 200 people from 20 countries.
