A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a three-year-old boy ended up in a crocodile enclosure at Johnsons Zoo in Old Hurst, near Cambridge. Cambridgeshire Police were called to the zoo in Huntingdonshire at 1:24 p.m. on Thursday following reports of the incident.

The toddler sustained serious injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. Authorities stated that the boy is currently in critical but stable condition.

The suspect, a man from the nearby county of Norfolk, is being held by police. Detective Inspector Verity McCann stated that investigators do not believe the arrested man and the child are known to each other.

Johnsons Zoo is home to more than 100 animals, including crocodiles, lions, tigers, sloth bears, capybaras, and meerkats.
