Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to Beijing next week for a two-day trip to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The Kremlin confirmed the visit is scheduled for May 19-20.
The meeting comes days after U.S. President Donald Trump concluded his state visit to China on Friday, marking the first trip to the country by a U.S. president in nearly a decade. Although the visit ended with warm diplomatic optics, it yielded few resolutions to key trade and geopolitical issues, including the Russian war on Ukraine and the US-Israeli war on Iran.
Putin and Xi plan to discuss ways to further strengthen and deepen their countries' comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. The Kremlin stated that the two leaders will sign a joint declaration at the end of their talks.
