Joshua Kerry, a 28-year-old man from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has appeared in a London court accused of murdering former government minister and ex-Conservative Party minister Ann Widdecombe. Kerry was charged Monday while in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder and acts of terror.
Prosecutors told the court that the attack occurred at Widdecombe's home earlier this month. During the assault, Kerry allegedly struck her 21 times on the top of her head with a hammer.
Security footage from inside the home captured the attack, showing that Widdecombe was eating lunch when a man walked in and asked whether she had bank cards.
