The body of Anastasiia Berezovska, a 39-year-old Ukrainian woman suspected of carrying out a bombing in Monaco, has been found shot dead near Kyiv. Ukrainian prosecutors and the Security Service confirmed that Berezovska was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head on Monday night around 11 p.m. local time.
Berezovska was the chief suspect in an Interpol Red Notice for attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and placing an explosive device in a public place. She was sought for a June 29 parcel bomb attack that wounded Ukrainian-born business tycoon Vadym Yermolaiev, his partner, and his son. Yermolaiev, who received Cypriot nationality in 2019, had been placed under Ukrainian sanctions in 2023 for doing business in Russian-occupied Crimea.
Following the attack, the suspect reportedly left the principality on foot to nearby France and then fled by car to Germany via several European countries, including Italy.
Ukrainian authorities have since detained two individuals in connection with the case and the killing of Berezovska. One suspect is an officer with the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR), and the other is a former law enforcement officer. The HUR officer reportedly admitted that he and the other suspect killed the woman.
