Former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios has been provisionally suspended from tennis after testing positive for a cocaine metabolite during an ATP event in Mallorca. The International Tennis Integrity Agency announced the suspension on Wednesday, noting that the Australian player has been suspended since August 4.
The 31-year-old player has apologized to his fans for the incident, stating that he had made a huge mistake.
Kyrgios admitted to struggling with the twilight of his career following two years of injuries. He stated that he had difficulties coming to terms with being near the end of his career and made no excuses for his actions.
