Estonian authorities have concluded that a mid-August arson attack on Milrem Robotics, a Tallinn-based manufacturer of unmanned ground vehicles supplying Ukraine, was an act of sabotage commissioned by Russian security services. The Estonian government accused Moscow of carrying out the attack as part of a broader campaign of covert disruption across Europe.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna described the attack as absolutely unacceptable and announced that Russia's chargé d'affaires in Tallinn has been summoned to the ministry. While the Kremlin has denied involvement, European and NATO leaders have expressed their full support for Estonia and Ukraine following the incident.
The attack occurs amid a pattern of Russian drone incursions and disruptive activities throughout Europe since the invasion of Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Rutte highlighted the evolving nature of these threats, citing a drone shot down in Lithuanian airspace two weeks ago. In response, NATO is strengthening its integrated air and missile defense and reinforcing its posture against drones.
