Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu became the highest-grossing movie in the U.S. and Canada over the four-day holiday weekend, earning $102 million in ticket sales.
The film marks the first new Star Wars release in theaters since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. It represents a jump to the big screen for the hit Disney+ streaming series.
With $300 million spent on production and marketing, the movie met expectations to collect $102 million from Thursday through Monday. Studio estimates on Sunday indicated the film earned $82 million over the weekend in the U.S. and Canada.
