Two men charged in UK with assisting Iran over RAF Fairford incident

crime & law defense & military

Two men have been charged with national security offenses following a suspected plot against RAF Fairford, a U.S.-run military airbase in southwest England. British prosecutors have charged British-Iranian dual national Mohmed Ahmad Abdulkarim and British citizen Nouman Essghir under the National Security Act.

Mohmed Ahmad Abdulkarim, a 24-year-old man, is accused of spying for and assisting a foreign intelligence service, which police believe to be Iran. The airbase is used by the United States in its war and strikes against Iran.

The legal action follows an incident on September 27, when police were alerted by a local farmer who reported seeing a group of men in several white vans engaged in suspicious activity. This marks the first time anyone has been charged in connection with the event.
