At least 23 people, including 21 adults and two children, were killed and five others injured early Wednesday following a head-on collision between a minibus and a truck in the southern Brazilian state of Parana.
The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the BR-373 highway near Ipiranga, a city located 560 kilometers south of Sao Paulo. Preliminary evidence indicates that the truck, which was not carrying any cargo, crossed into incoming traffic and collided with the minibus.
The minibus was traveling to hospitals near Curitiba and carried passengers including patients, healthcare workers, and family members. Emergency teams and local police worked at the scene for hours, where wreckage and passenger belongings were strewn across the ground.
