An Indonesian military court has sentenced four service members from the Strategic Intelligence Agency to prison for a premeditated acid attack on human rights activist Andrie Yunus. The officers received jail terms ranging from one-and-a-half to three years.

One defendant was sentenced to three years in jail, while others received terms of 2.5 years, two years, and 1.5 years. The court found the officers guilty of serious premeditated assault following the attack in March, which left Yunus blind in one eye.

Yunus is a deputy coordinator with the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence, a rights group also known as KontraS. As an outspoken critic of the growing role of Indonesia's powerful military, prosecutors argued that the soldiers were motivated by anger over his activism.

Military prosecutors took over the case despite objections from the victim.
