Acclaimed Indian actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar died Thursday at his home in the western state of Goa. He was 75.
Patekar enjoyed a career spanning nearly five decades across Hindi and Marathi cinema, carving out a distinctive place in Indian cinema. He made his film debut in the 1978 Hindi film Gaman and later earned acclaim for Parinda and Krantiveer.
Known for bringing the intensity of the stage to the screen, Patekar won three National Film Awards. In 2013, he received the Padma Shri, one of the country's highest civilian honours.
While praised for his craft and philanthropy, the actor was also accused of sexual harassment.
