President Donald Trump announced that the United States intervened to support the Japanese yen, marking a joint effort between Washington and Tokyo to back the currency for the first time in nearly three decades.
Trump described the intervention as a signal of friendship with Japan. He stated that the move, which lifted the yen last week, would benefit the global economy as well as the United States.
The President added that he expects Washington to reap a financial benefit from helping the ally. Following these remarks, the yen held a small loss against the dollar.
