Charles Leclerc has signed a multi-year contract extension with Ferrari for the coming seasons. The announcement, made on Wednesday, comes just before this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix.
The 28-year-old has driven for the team since 2019, having joined its academy in 2016. Leclerc now ranks second in most pole positions for Ferrari and has raced more times for the team than any other driver except for the retired seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. While he is yet to win a drivers' title, he remains committed to the Italian team.
Leclerc expressed that he could not be happier to continue his journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP, stating that the organization has always been more than just a team to him. He noted that while they have shared both incredible and tougher moments, he believes in the team more than ever and is grateful to keep pushing toward the shared goal of bringing the world championship back to Maranello.
As a local hero in Monaco, Leclerc hopes to celebrate the new deal on home territory this weekend by ending the team's long winless wait. In doing so, he will look to deny Mercedes teenager Kimi Antonelli a fifth successive victory.
