Colin Gray, 55, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday following an emotional hearing. Gray was convicted of second-degree murder after providing his son, Colt Gray, with the assault rifle used to kill four people at Apalachee High School in Georgia.
The shooting claimed the lives of two teachers and two 14-year-old students. A jury found the elder Gray guilty of second-degree murder in March for gifting the weapon to his son.
While prosecutors had sought a sentence of 80 years, the court handed down a 15-year term. Colin Gray is one of a handful of American parents to be criminally charged after their children were accused in shootings.
The sentencing follows the legal proceedings for 16-year-old Colt Gray, who was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison two days prior for the 2024 attack.
