French and British teams rescued 157 migrants on Tuesday after their boat caught fire while attempting to cross the English Channel. The dinghy capsized after its engine caught fire at sea.
The rescue operation involved French coastguards and vessels, aided by an RNLI lifeboat and two British Border Security Command boats. Rescue boats from both France and the UK participated in the effort to evacuate the passengers from the stricken vessel.
The rescued individuals are being taken to Boulogne-sur-Mer in France. French authorities stated that this is one of the largest such rescue operations reported since records began in 2018.
