British Prime Minister Andy Burnham briefly exchanged messages with an individual impersonating Susie Wiles, the chief of staff to U.S. President Donald Trump and one of his closest advisers.
The prime minister believed he was communicating with the senior White House aide until he became suspicious and cut off the communications. A British government official confirmed that the messaging was brief.
It is understood that no messages of significance were sent during the interaction. The suspicious activity was quickly reported to the appropriate authorities.
